Temporal Structures

"Temporal Structures: Recent Paintings by Margaret Rinkovsky," was exhibited at the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art and at the Koplin Gallery in Los Angeles in 1991. As Marge Bulmer wrote in a review of the exhibition, "Temporal Structures," — "Employing a hybrid but durable esthetic rooted in Impressionism an Abstract Expressionism Rinkovsky displays affinity with color-field painters and California light-and-space artists. Obviously valuing intuition over logic, she draws inspiration from nature that extends beyond the image into the mist…the forms dissolve an defuse in pure paint, thus intimating a conceptual and perceptual conflict between imagery and abstraction. Although unpretentious, Rinkovsky’s work should not mislead anyone into underestimating its poetic intensity."
